This DIY monogram doormat from Mikyla Creates is totally easy to make with Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color and monogram stencils. Learn how easy it is to make your own perfectly personalized doormat in the following tutorial!

What you need:

Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color – color of choice

- Monogram stencils

- Plain doormat

- Painter’s tape

- Measuring tape

- Marker

- String

- Plastic garbage bags or heavy paper

Brush off doormat to prep

Before getting started, make sure you’re working in a well-ventilated area. Brush off your doormat to remove any loose fibers or dust.

Tape monogram stencil in place on mat

Place your chosen monogram letter stencil in the center of your doormat and tape in place. If you want an exact center placement, you can measure just to be sure!

Mark the center point of the mat sides

To create the rainbow designs on the sides of your doormat, first measure the sides of your mat and use your marker to make a mark at the exact center.

Create a half circle using marker and string

Cut a piece of string long enough to extend from the side edge of the mat to the top of where you’d like your first arc to be. (About a few inches away from your monogram stencil.) Tie the string to your marker, and holding the other end at the center-marked point on the side, pull the marker/string taught and create a half circle with your marker, keeping the string pulled tight the entire time. This will help you create the perfect half circle!

Tape along arc

Tape along the edge of the arc, tearing the pieces of tape into smaller strips to help keep the arc shape if needed.

Repeat process to create two additional arcs

Repeat the above steps to create and tape off two additional concentric arcs, each about 2 inches below the one above it.

Repeat process on other side

Repeat creating the rainbow design on the opposite side of the mat.

Spray designs with ColorShot Spray Paint

Cover any exposed areas you do not want painted with plastic trash bags or heavy paper. Prep your ColorShot Spray Paint according to instructions, then spray several light coats over your designs, letting dry in between coats.

Peel off tape and stencil and let dry

Once you are happy with your color coverage, peel off the tape, stencil and protective layers. Let dry completely before using.
