Beautiful Dyed Flower Bouquet

Beautiful Dyed Flower Bouquet

Fresh flowers are always nice, but they have a tendency to wilt and fade— losing all of those gorgeous natural colors that we all love so much! What if we told you there’s a way to have a bouquet of REAL flowers that never lose their color? It’s not a trick, it’s Tulip Fabric Dye! This easy tutorial from Oh Yay Studio will show you how to turn your dried florals and foliage into an ultra-colorful dyed flower arrangement!

What you need:

Tulip Permanent Fabric Dye

COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints

Dried foliage and florals

Cookie sheet and wire rack

Spray bottle

Drop cloth

Salt

Water

Various colors of Tulip Fabric Dye and COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paint

Choose which colors you will be using for this project! Create a colorful palette with your favorite Tulip Fabric Dyes for fragile foliage such as grasses and delicate flowers. Use COLORSHOT Premium Spray Paints on the more “solid” foliage, such as leaves, twigs, branches, and other sturdy foliage.

Dissolve salt into water and transfer into spray bottle

Dissolve about 1 tablespoon of salt into 12 ounces of warm water and transfer into a spray bottle. While your salt water solution is cooling, prepare your foliage and sort them into what will be dyed and what will be sprayed. Lay your foliage onto a cookie sheet/wire rack combo to catch excess dye.

Apply dye to foliage

To make dyed flowers, lightly spray with salt water then sprinkle dye onto them. Don’t let the dye clump—a light coat of dye will do the trick! Spray with a little more salt water and allow to dry fully flat. Repeat for the other side of the foliage. If you accidentally apply too much dye, you may need to brush off or wipe away the excess.

Spray paint foliage

To spray paint your foliage, lay them out in a well-ventilated area with a drop cloth to catch any overspray and begin spraying each piece with your desired colors in slow, even strokes. Allow to dry, and repeat on the other side.

Arrange and display your foliage

Once all of your foliage is completely dried, it’s time to put them on display! Pick out a nice vase and have fun with the floral arrangement process.  The colorful dyed flower bouquet of your dreams is here to stay!
