Easy Glow Bracelet DIYs
Grab the kids and create arm candy that pops with this easy glow bracelet tutorial from the Craft Box Girls. All you need is Tulip Dimensional Paint in bold neon glow-in-the-dark colors, some string, and popsicle sticks to make bracelets that stand out during the day and light up the night! Tulip Dimensional Paints are nontoxic and easy for all ages and skillsets to work with; it’s the perfect craft the fam can wear when the fun is done.
What you need:
- Tulip Glow-in-the-Dark Dimensional Fabric Paint Pack
- Floss or string
- Parchment or wax paper
- Tape
- Scissors
- Popsicle sticks
- Drinking glass or jar
- Pot for boiling water
- Tongs
Cut a piece of wax or parchment paper large enough to work on, then cut 3 pieces of floss or string the same length for each dimensional paint bracelet you’re going to make. Tip: first measure your arm or your child’s arm to see how much length of string you’ll need to comfortably fit around your/their wrist. Tape the strands in place on your parchment paper.
Use the Dimensional Paints to create your bracelets! Apply the paint directly onto the string. Craft Box Girls started with a thick section of paint along the string to create a base for the bracelets.
You can add lots of different colored paint dots onto your base.
Or you can get creative with zigzags, squiggles and other designs. Try new things and have fun experimenting!
Once you are happy with your bracelet designs, let them dry completely. This could take more than a few hours depending on the thickness of your paint and the climate where you live. Once they are dry, simply peel them off of your parchment paper and they’re ready to wear!
To make popsicle stick bracelets, first boil a pot of water. Once the water is boiling, throw in the popsicle sticks and allow them to boil for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn off the heat and let them soak in the hot water for 20 more minutes. Tip: boil twice as many bracelets as you plan to make because they sometimes break when you start bending and molding them.
After the popsicle sticks are done soaking, use tongs to remove them from the water. Carefully bend and mold them to the inside of a glass or jar and allow to dry completely.
Once dry, prop your rounded popsicle sticks on a jar or tube to hold in place as you decorate. Great creative with your Dimensional Paint designs! You can spell out your name, a special word or just cover them in paint. Once you’re finished, let your popsicle stick bracelets dry completely before wearing.
Aren’t these bright neon bracelets so fun?! The kids can even make some for their friends to give as custom friendship bracelets! It’s a totally affordable and totally creative way to make some new accessories.
Don’t forget to make them glow! Activate your new glow bracelets with UV, incandescent or black light according to the paint instructions. This doubles as a great family craft for Halloween-themed accessories, don’t you think?!
