Merry & Bright Matching Christmas Sweaters
What’s better than making matching sweaters to wear on Christmas morning? Using Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint for your customized clothes, of course! Learn how to welcome the holidays with style from this tutorial by Oh Yay Studio. This kid-friendly project will have the whole family looking picture-perfect on Christmas morning— even the dog! ‘Tis the season for matching Christmas sweaters all around!
What you need:
- Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint
- FA LA LA or desired wording pattern print out
- Plain matching sweatshirts
- Precision craft knife or cutting machine
- Permanent vinyl sheet or paper
- Paintbrush
- Cardboard
- Tape
Before you get started on this project, measure and prep the sweaters that you will be painting to see what size you want the template to be. Cut out the letters from a sheet of vinyl or paper by using a precision craft knife or cutting machine, leaving the negative space. This will be your stencil for painting!
Transfer the stenciled design to your garment by laying your paper pattern and taping in place, or use transfer tape to transfer your design from your cutting machine. Press it down to make sure it sticks well!
Place a piece of cardboard between the two layers of the sweatshirt to prevent the paint from bleeding through. Then choose the colors you want to use and start painting! Apply Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint directly from the bottle and use a paintbrush as needed to fill the stencil.
Gently remove the stencil while the paint is still semi-wet, being careful not to smudge any of the paint. Allow the paint to dry for at least 4 hours or until completely dry. Repeat to create as many matching sweaters as you need for the whole family, and get ready for a merry and bright Christmas morning!
