Petunia Pink Refresh with Tulip Fabric Dye Pods

Want to refresh your clothes with vibrant pink color? Tulip has you covered! This tutorial from Molly Fererrio will show you how to turn all your clothes a pretty shade of Petunia with Fabric Dye Pods. These dye pods make it easy to achieve allover, even coverage on fabrics— just add to your washing machine with salt for vibrant color!
Supplies Needed:
Cotton, linen, ramie, and/or rayon clothing
High Efficiency washing machine
1.5 cups salt
Step 1: Select your clothing and Fabric Dye Pod color
Sort out the clothing you’d like to refresh and select a Fabric Dye Pod in a similar color family. For this project, Molly Fererrio is refreshing pink clothes with the Petunia Fabric Dye Pod! Keep in mind that the base color of your clothing can affect the final shade of your dyed project. One pod dyes up to 21 ounces of dry fabric to the full shade— weigh your project to ensure you have enough dye.
Step 2: Place fabric, dye pod, and salt into washing machine
Ensure the clothing has been prewashed without fabric softener for best results. Place the damp unfolded clothing into the washing machine drum. Remove the sleeve and lid from the fabric dye pod, then place the pod into the drum in an upright position on top of the clothes. Sprinkle 1.5 cups of salt evenly around the clothing.
Step 3: Run a wash cycle to dye fabric
To dye your fabric, select the 2-hour wash cycle option with hot water or the bacteria/mite removal setting. When the washing cycle is complete, remove the empty pod from the machine, add washing detergent, and run a normal wash cycle with room temperature water.
Step 4: Dry and enjoy!
Once the fabric has been dyed, remove the clothing from the washing machine, add detergent, then run an empty cycle to clean your machine and remove any remaining traces of fabric dye. Allow your clothing to air dry, then enjoy the fresh renewed color!
