How To Renew Clothes with Black Fabric Dye Pods

Sometimes the color on our well-loved clothing fades— but it’s no problem when you have Tulip Fabric Dye Pods! The Tulip Blackout Fabric Dye Pods make it easy to refresh worn clothing with deep, rich color— just add the pod to your washing machine with salt for allover, even coverage. Check out this tutorial and see how we’re giving their clothes new life with black fabric dye!

Supplies:

Tulip Fabric Dye Pod in Blackout

Cotton, linen, ramie, and/or rayon clothing

High Efficiency (HE) washing machine

1.5 cups salt

Step 1: Select Your Fabric to Dye & Dye Pod Color

For this project, we are adding rich black color back to faded pants and a dress with the Blackout Fabric Dye Pod! One pod dyes up to 21 ounces of dry fabric to the full shade— weigh your project to ensure you have enough black fabric dye.

Step 2: Place Fabric, Dye Pod & Salt into Washing Machine & Run Cycle

Ensure the clothing has been pre-washed without fabric softener for best results. Place the damp unfolded clothing into the washing machine drum. Remove the sleeve and lid from the fabric dye pod, then place the pod into the drum in an upright position on top of the clothes. Do not pour out the black fabric dye. Sprinkle 1.5 cups of salt evenly around the clothing. To dye your fabric, select the 2-hour wash cycle option with hot water or the bacteria/mite removal setting. When the washing cycle is complete, remove the empty Fabric Dye Pod from the machine, add washing detergent, and run a normal wash cycle with room temperature water.

Step 3: Dry Fabric & Enjoy!

Once the fabric has been dyed, remove the clothing from the washing machine, add detergent, then run an empty cycle to clean your machine and remove any remaining traces of black fabric dye. Allow the clothing to air dry and enjoy!
