Custom Canvas Laundry Hamper for Kids with Fabric Paint

Supplies Needed:

Tulip Puff Paint

Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paint

Canvas laundry hamper

Iron

Paintbrushes

Paint palette or paper plate

Stencils

Step 1: Prepare the canvas laundry hamper

Before you start painting, you’ll need to prepare your canvas laundry hamper project. Ensure the hamper is clean and dry, then iron to smooth out any wrinkles in the canvas.

Step 2: Apply stencils to the canvas laundry hamper

Prepare the stencils for your kids’ laundry hamper. For this project, Molly Ferrerio created custom stencils with the name “Violet” by using a cutting machine and stencil film. Alternately, you can create your own stencils with wax paper and scissors or use premade lettering stencils. Apply the stencils to the front of the canvas laundry hamper.

Step 3: Apply Brush-On Fabric Paint to canvas laundry hamper

Select which colors you want to use on your canvas laundry hamper. Pour a small amount of Brush-On Fabric Paint onto a palette or paper plate, then use a paintbrush to apply paint to the stencils. Allow the paint to dry before applying additional coats as desired. Carefully remove the stencils while the paint is still wet and reposition as needed to customize your kids’ laundry hamper. Once you’re finished painting, remove the stencils and let the fabric paint dry completely.

Step 4: Decorate the canvas laundry hamper lid with Puff Paint  

Complete your kids’ laundry hamper with textured designs on top! Use Puff Paint to decorate the canvas laundry hamper’s lid with variety of fun 3D designs such as rainbows, stars, flowers, or other motifs that your little one loves! Allow the Puff Paint to dry for 4 hours or longer for thicker applications.

Step 5: Let dry and enjoy!

Once all the paint has dried completely, your custom canvas laundry hamper is ready to use. This colorful kids’ laundry hamper is a fun and creative way to inspire kids to stay organized and take pride in their space!
