Looking to add a splash of personality to your winter wardrobe? Creating a cute snowman shirt with spray dye and Puff Paint facial features is a fun, easy project that will leave you with a unique piece perfect for the chilly season. This DIY snowman shirt is a great cold weather indoor craft, so grab your supplies and get started!
Supplies:
· White 100% cotton shirt
· Tulip Confetti 7-Color Spray Dye Kit
· Plastic table cover to protect your workspace
· Shirt board or cardboard
· Paintbrush
· Water cup
· Small plate or cup for paint palette
· Pencil or washable marker (optional)
Step 1: Prepare Fabric & Mix Dyes
Prewash and dry shirt. Lay down a plastic table cover to protect your area from any dye spills or overspray. To create bullseye pattern, lay shirt flat on surface and pull up from center. Gather in a tube shape and add rubber bands at even intervals. Put on your gloves to keep your hands clean. Add water to dye bottles and shake to mix. Confirm all dye powder has completely dissolved.
Step 2: Spray on Dyes
Spray on your dyes in your desired color order. Be sure to apply dye generously, but do not oversaturate fabric. If dye is applied too close together, the colors may become muddy. Leave the center of your bullseye pattern white for your Puff Paint facial features to stand out. Once you’ve finished spraying on your dyes, cover shirt with plastic and let set 6-8 hours. Wash and dry according to instructions.
Step 3: Prep Dyed Snowman Shirt for Painting
Stretch out dyed dry snowman shirt over a shirt board or piece of cardboard. Be sure the shirt’s surface is smooth and wrinkle free. Set up your paints you will be using for the snowman’s features.
Step 4: Paint on Cute Snowman Facial Features
Here comes the fun part, bring your snowman to life! Use Puff Paints to add eyes and mouth. You may want to use a pencil or washable marker to pre-draw the face features to help guide you with the paints. For the nose, use a paintbrush to add a small stroke of orange Puff Paint for the carrot nose. Let dry flat. Wear and enjoy all the compliments of your cute snowman shirt!
