3 image collage with three different pairs of denim jeans painted with "Senior 2027" on pant legs

Get ready to make a statement for your senior year with custom DIY Senior jeans! This easy denim painting project shows you how to transform a plain pair of jeans into personalized senior-year apparel using Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paint. Paint bold SENIOR lettering down the leg, then add school colors, graduation-year details, stars, flowers, dots, or other creative accents to make your look one of a kind. Whether you’re planning senior sunrise, spirit week, game day, or graduation-season photos, these painted jeans are a fun way to celebrate your final year in style.

Supplies:

Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paint

Denim jeans

Cardboard to insert in pant legs

Pencil or chalk pencil

Paintbrush

Paper plate or paint palette

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

1. PRE-WASH JEANS

Wash and dry the denim jeans before painting. Do not use fabric softener, as it can prevent the paint from bonding properly to the fabric.

2. PREP YOUR WORK SURFACE

Lay the jeans flat on a covered work surface. Smooth out the leg where you want to paint SENIOR, then place a piece of cardboard or scrap paper inside the jean leg to prevent paint from bleeding through.

3. PLAN THE DESIGN

Decide where the SENIOR lettering will go. Lightly sketch the letters onto the denim with a pencil or chalk pencil, or use letter stencils for a clean, even look.

4. ADD PAINT TO A PALETTE

Squeeze the desired Tulip Brush-On Fabric Paint colors onto a paper plate or paint palette. Start with a small amount of paint so it is easier to control as you work.

5. PAINT THE LETTERS

Use a paintbrush to fill in the SENIOR lettering. Apply thin, even coats and let each coat dry slightly before adding more paint for brighter coverage.

6. ADD DETAILS TO BOTH LEGS

Once the letters are filled in, add outlines, shadows, dots, stars, flowers, school colors, or graduation-year accents to personalize the jeans.

7. LET DRY FLAT

Leave the jeans flat and undisturbed until the painted design is completely dry.

8. WEAR AND CARE

Wait at least 72 hours before washing. When ready to wash, turn the jeans inside out and wash on a gentle cycle with cold water. Hang dry or tumble dry low.
