How to Personalize a Vegan Leather Jacket with Leather Paint

Vegan leather jacket

Paintbrush

Step 1: Prepare your vegan leather jacket

Before you begin painting your vegan leather jacket, ensure the fabric is clean, dry, and free of dust or debris. Both Tulip Leather Paint and Stitch Paint are permanent, so you may want to trace your designs onto the jacket with a chalk pencil before painting. This extra step can help with overall design placement and fine details!

Step 2: Paint designs on your vegan leather jacket with Leather Paint

Remove cap and safety seal from paints. Replace the cap, shake well, and squeeze your desired colors onto a paint palette. Additional colors can be created by mixing paints. For this project, we are mixing Tulip Leather Paint in Hazelnut and Sand to create a light orange color for the flowers, and outlining the petals with Hazelnut. Use a paintbrush to apply 2 coats of Leather Paint to your vegan leather jacket, allowing the paint to dry between coats. For a shiny finish, apply gloss topcoat directly over Tulip Leather Paint.

Step 3: Add details to your vegan leather jacket with Stitch Paint

Use Tulip Stitch Paint to create intricate, dimensional details on your vegan leather jacket!  To use Stitch Paint, remove the cap from the paint tube, place the pointed tip onto the sealed portion at the top of the paint tube, and press to pierce the seal. Use scissors to cut off the very tip of the fine point applicator. Cutting further down will result in a thicker paint output. Screw the fine point applicator tip tightly onto paint tube, then gently squeeze the paint tube to start paint flow through tip.

Step 4: Let dry and wear your personalized vegan leather jacket!

Once all the paint has dried completely, your personalized vegan leather jacket is ready to wear! These vibrant fabric paints dry permanent and flexible, so your hand-painted designs won’t crack, crumble, or peel. Enjoy wearing your custom leather jacket season after season!
