Patriotic 4th of July Outfit with Puff Paint

This fun fashion DIY features an American flag with sparkling rhinestones and subtle 3D texture— it’s the perfect look for celebrating your patriotic pride! 

Supplies Needed:

Tulip Puff Paint

Aleene's Rhinestone Adhesive

White, 100% cotton kids' T-Shirt

Paintbrush

Paint palette

White rhinestones

Wax pen or tweezers

Plastic or cardboard

Ruler

Step 1: Prepare the materials

Prepare the materials

Before you start on this custom 4th of July outfit, prewash and dry the kids’ T-shirt. Place a layer of plastic or cardboard between the layers of the shirt to prevent the paint from seeping through, then place a ruler on top to guide your painting. You will need red and blue Puff Paint for the American flag-inspired 4th of July outfit! Optionally, you can use white Puff Paint for the white stripes, or just leave unpainted white space between the red stripes. Squeeze a small amount of each Puff Paint color onto a palette.

Step 2: Paint the flag canton

Use a paintbrush to apply blue Puff Paint to the T-shirt in a small rectangle This will be the canton of the American flag on your 4th of July outfit!

Step 3: Apply Rhinestone Adhesive

Apply Rhinestone Adhesive to the canton

Once the paint has dried to the touch, use Aleene's Rhinestone Adhesive to dot the canton with glue for the gems.

Step 4: Place rhinestones onto the canton

Place rhinestones onto the canton

Use a wax pen or tweezers to place gems onto the glued areas, then press into place to secure. This 4th of July outfit features 50 sparkling rhinestones to symbolize the stars on the flag! 

Step 5: Paint the stripes

Paint the American flag stripes

Use a paintbrush to apply red (and optionally, white) Puff Paint in stripes for the 4th of July outfit. The American flag features 13 stripes, alternating in red and white, to symbolize the original colonies!

Step 6: Let dry and enjoy!
