How to Airbrush Paint a Sweatshirt with Fabric Markers
Unleashing your creativity on a plain sweatshirt can be as easy as grabbing the Tulip Airbrush Marker Kit! This nifty tool lets you create vibrant, custom airbrush paint designs that are sure to make your wardrobe pop! Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned DIYer, we’ll guide you through the basics of using an airbrush with Tulip Fabric Tip Markers so you can see how fun it is!
Supplies:
· White 100% cotton sweatshirt
· Tulip Airbrush Fabric Marker Kit
· Plastic table cover to protect your workspace
· Shirt board or cardboard
· Scrap paper
Step 1: Prep Fabric & Gather Supplies

Prewash and dry shirt, not using fabric softener. Lay down a plastic table cover to protect your area from any overspray. Insert cardboard inside sweatshirt to protect from ink seeping to backside. Plan your airbrush design. If you’re feeling adventurous freehand it! Or stencils help provide neat and tidy shapes. Here we use both techniques.
Step 2: Prep Airbrush for Spray Painting

Fully charge the airbrush before use. Remove marker cap. Insert marker into the airbrush tool and rotate until locked. Switch the airbrush power to “ON.” Practice spraying onto a piece of scrap fabric to get a feel of how to use it. Varying the distance affects the airbrush spray pattern. Hold the nozzle closer to your project surface for a fine line spray pattern, and farther for a softer diffused spray pattern. Now you’re ready to go!
Step 3: Begin Your Airbrush Painting Design!

Begin spraying your design with first color. Wipe the airbrush nozzle clean when switching colors to avoid unintended color mixing.
Step 4: Add Freehand Accents to Wording

Here’s your chance to make things stand out! Grab a marker in another color and add outlines to your words. This will add dimension and make sure everyone sees your message! Be sure to wipe airbrush nozzle clean each time you change colors.
Step 5: Add Stencil Airbrush Designs to Sweatshirt

Grab your stencils and place on sweatshirt to add stenciled airbrush designs where desired.
Step 6: Add Freehand Airbrush Designs to Sweatshirt

Here’s your chance to get creative! Grab your markers and use the airbrush to start free handing fun accents like hearts, stars, bursts or whatever your heart desires! Your sweatshirt will be machine washable after 24 hours.
