How to Make Color Changing Tie-Dye T-Shirts

Supplies Needed
White, 100% cotton T-Shirts
Container for dye bath
Wood or cardboard square
Step 1: Prepare T-shirts for color changing dye
2 oz of Tulip Color Change Dye can be used to make 1 adult large color changing shirt! Use white, 100% cotton fabric for best results. Prewash and dry your shirt to remove sizing, then fold and bind as desired. For this project, @lulu__make is using the itajime shibori technique. Accordion fold the fabric in quarters, then accordion fold in quartes again in the other direction. Place a wood or cardboard square on both sides of the fabric, then bind with rubber bands.
Step 2: Prepare the dye bath
Shake the bottle of Color Change Dye well. Pour the entire bottle of dye plus 1/4 cup warm water into a container large enough to fit your color changing project.
Step 3: Dip project in dye bath
Always wear gloves when working with dye! Dip each side of your folded project into the prepared color changing dye bath.
Step 4: Let set, remove rubber bands, and lay flat to dry
Allow the dye to set for a few hours, then remove the rubber bands, unfold, and lay flat to dry completely.
Step 5: Wash and dry the color changing shirt
Ensure your color changing shirt is completely dry before washing. Wash in cool water on gentle cycle with a small amount of detergent. Air dry flat or tumble dry low. YOur color changing shirt is now ready to wear!
Step 6: Activate color change
Take your finished project into sunlight and watch the color changing magic! This colorful tie-dye tee will change from pink to lavender!
